Laura Agnusdei (1990-) is a saxophone player, electroacoustic composer, and improviser from Bologna (IT), who is currently based in The Hague (NL), where she is studying at The Institute of Sonology. Before this, she graduated in classical saxophone at “G.B.Martini” Conservatory of Bologna in 2016. In her youth, she was part of many experimental and underground rock bands in her hometown.

Since 2014 she started her first solo project, based on the use of different sound sources by combining digital, analog and acoustic sonorities in a hybrid set up. The compositional outcome of her first approach to electroacoustic music is “NIGHT/LIGHTS” a 4 track-ep released in September 2017 on limited edition cassette via the English label The Tapeworm. This work features the saxophone as the main voice within different sonic landscapes that shift between melody and texture, between song form and improvisation, to create emotional states that change from track to track. Likewise, Agnusdei's master research at The Institute of Sonology is about composing with wind instruments and electronics, focusing on possible timbre relationship between these two domains.

Since 2016, her music is been presented in festivals and venues such Rewire (NL), Iklectik (UK), Mitocondri (IT), Sonix (CZ) and Reform Act (AT). Furthermore, Laura is actually performing in a duo with Daniele Fabris and in many free-improv ensembles. Her inclination towards improvisation has also involved her playing saxophone in the Italian psych rock band Julie's Haircut. Active since the 90s, their last album "Invocation and Ritual Dance of My Demon Twin” was made editing some purely improvised studio sessions and it was released in February 2017 by Rocket Recordings. Laura is now touring in Europe with them presenting this work.

Laura also holds a bachelor of Modern Literature from Alma Mater Studiorum University of Bologna. She graduated with distinction presenting the thesis “Identity crisis through body representation in contemporary American cinema and literature”.
